Kawasaki shows new ZZR 1400 and other 2012 range stars at ExCel
Praised by Motor Cycle News at its recent launch for “delivering hyper speed and sophistication”, the new ZZR1400 will be one of the most talked about machines at the Carole Nash Motorcycle Show at London’s ExCel Docklands venue. Featuring an engine that produces well over 200 horsepower, the mighty ZZR was also singled out by MCN Senior Road Tester, Adam Child, for its “sublime” traction control system, “brutal acceleration” and, at a top speed with his chin on the tank at which he could “pretty much relax”. Combining comfort, great looks and build quality with a class leading raft of rider aids and jaw dropping performance, the ZZR is set to be mobbed.
Joining the lime green Hypersports machine on the busy stand will be another MCN favourite, the new-for-2102 Versys 1000. A bigger brother to the already popular 650cc machine, the 1000cc Multi-purpose Versys “blows the more conventional two and three cylinder competitors away” according to MCN in their world’s first group test against bikes from British and German manufacturers. With ABS, selectable traction control and power modes as standard, the unique-to-class four cylinder engine has already marked the new litre Versys out as something quite special. And at less than £10,000 it is bound to take its share of attention from the growing breed of biker that wants upright styling, go-anywhere looks and huge range combined with smooth, strong performance.
Being a London show, of course city bikes will have a prominent place on the Kawasaki stand and the restyled, re-engineered and re-launched ER-6f and ER-6n will be ready for examination and sitting on like all the other machines on display. Underneath their stunning contemporary styling both machines deliver big time with the sporty ER-6f more than able to punch above its diminutive weight. The funky ER-6n is the perfect bike about town for those who have just started riding thanks to the Get On campaign, those coming back to biking and, of course bikers that know good value when they see it.
Also squeezed onto the stand will be a popular trio of litre bikes in the guise of the innovative Z1000SX, the outrageous Ninja ZX-10R and even a fully tricked up race replica of the same machine. Not enough? How about a lithe Ninja 250R? The modern classic looks of the recently launched W800 or the supreme long distance majesty of the 1400GTR.
Added to that considerable will be Chris “Stalker” Walker talking about his new Kawasaki Race School, information on the latest Kawasaki 0% and low rate finance offers, a chance to win a brand new ER-6n in the BEN charity raffle and a shop where you can buy Kawasaki clothing and goodies. Finally, to mark forty years since its launch in 1972, there will also be a Kawasaki icon to appreciate as the stand plays host to an immaculate Kawasaki Z1.
